HCS SB 441 -- THIRD CLASS CITIES SPONSOR: Caskey (Williams) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Miscellaneous Bills and Resolutions by a vote of 9 to 0. This substitute allows Warrensburg to receive bids from banks doing business within the city at any regular meeting of the city. Current law allows cities to receive bids from banking institutions only once a year, at their regular meetings in July. The substitute allows qualifying cities to receive bids at any regular meeting throughout the year and requires contracts offered to be for a maximum of 2 years. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the city should be able to receive bids for banking services at any regular meeting of the city, not just at July meetings. Testifying for the bill were Senator Caskey; David Pearce; and City of Warrensburg. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
